Want it to look like the LAWS.com homepage? One line of HTML. The widget creates its own container, loads its styles and shows live top stories. It works on any site.
<script src="https://laws.com/news/includes/laws-news-widget.js" async></script>
To control exactly where it appears, add a target div first:
<div id="laws-news-widget"></div> <script src="https://laws.com/news/includes/laws-news-widget.js" async></script>
What's in the feed
Standard RSS 2.0 with the common extensions, so it works everywhere.
Per story
Headline, link to the full article, plain-text summary, publish date, topic, author, and a story image (media:content).
Refresh
New stories appear as they are published. Feeds carry a 30-minute ttl and an hourly sy:updatePeriod. Polling every 30 to 60 minutes is plenty.
Size
The latest 50 stories per feed. Topic feeds are smaller and focused.
Namespaces
atom (self link), dc (creator), media (images), content, sy. Validates as RSS 2.0.
Links
Every item links to its article on laws.com/news. Links are permanent.
Format
application/rss+xml, UTF-8, HTTPS only.
Terms of use
The feeds are free for personal, educational and commercial use, including on ad-supported sites and in paid newsletters.
- Show headlines and summaries as provided and keep the link to the original article on laws.com.
- Credit the source as LAWS.com. The feed does that for you if your reader shows the source field.
- Do not republish full articles, alter headlines, or present the content as your own reporting.
- Do not use the feeds to train AI models or to build a competing news database.
- We may change or discontinue feeds. Heavy automated polling (more than once a minute) may be rate limited.
