The Dallas County jail has the same services for inmates as many of the other County Jails in Texas. There are educational services, counseling services and work programs for inmates. However, like every county prison, the main focus is on the fact that inmates are there to be punished for crimes for which they have been accused and found guilty.
In prison systems as large as the Dallas County Jail, there are apt to be some issues with inmates’ safety. Even with such a large staff, it can be difficult to control a prison population as large as the one found at the Dallas County Jail. For that reason, one of the main goals at the Dallas County Jail is prisoner and staff safety.
Issues of safety are taken very seriously at the Dallas County Jail. Officers receive specialized training in order to help prevent issues, as well as the best method of handling issues that do arise.
In addition to special precautions which are taken for safety at the prison, there is also a focus on rehabilitating the prison population, so that they will be less likely to return to the Dallas county jail. Programs include educational access to books, classes and tutors so that inmates can further their education; there are programs for those that cannot read and write, as well as programs for those that have advanced college degrees.
The Dallas County Jail also has programs which teach inmates to be self-sufficient so that they have a better chance of being successful once they have been released from the jail. 

Franklin County Jail

the Franklin County jail is a medium security correctional facility, that
through various educational and treatment programs, aims to rehabilitate it’s
300 inmates. The Franklin County jail is comprised of 6 separates housing units
that contain various security levels. Although the majority of inmates within
the Franklin County jail are graded as “non-threatening” they are
still under constant surveillance from the nearly 75 correctional officers
under staff. 



That being said, inmates at the Franklin County jail are given far
more freedoms when compared to inmates in a maximum or federal prison. Inmates
typically bunk with “compatible” individuals–compatible in this
sense means that the individuals share similar histories and both pose
non-combative or conflicting characteristics. The Franklin County Jail works in
conjunction with the Franklin County Sheriff’s office, which is located in the
same facility, and is open from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.


Every 24 hours, the Franklin County Sheriff’s office releases a list of all
current inmates that are confined on the premises, in addition to a full list
of all those individuals who were booked and released within a 72 hour period.
The directors also lists the charges, the age of the individual, his/her race,
and their date of birth. 



In addition to this basic information, the arresting
officer is also listed, and the location within the Franklin County Jail is
documented. This detailed directory allows individuals related to the convicted
person to pinpoint his location for corresponding visiting hours, and to take
note of any transfers or cell changes.


Brazos County Jail

The Brazos County Jail houses both male and female inmates, but they are housed in different areas. Like every County Jail, the main focus is on ensuring the safety of prisoners and staff, while inmates are serving time. The safety of everyone in the facility is ensured through various programs which are attended by staff members. Staff at the Brazos County Jail studies ways to prevent issues that put each individual’s safety in jeopardy, as well as the best manner of handling situations that do arise.
In addition to watching for safety issues, the staff also watches inmates to ensure that all of their health, medical and dental needs are met by the medical staff. The staff at the Brazos County Jail has been trained to watch for specific types of medical issues which can often arise in prisons, such as overdose and communicable disease.
Like many of the County prisons in Texas, there is also a focus on providing opportunities for inmates to better their quality of life. Inmates may have the opportunity to learn skills, such as mechanical work, which could help them find gainful employment once they are released from jail.
Inmates at the Brazos County Jail also have access to educational opportunities which can allow them to explore differing employment opportunities. They may in fact receive employment counseling which can help them to explore options they may not have considered before. 

Bell County Jail

The Bell County Jail is like most County Jails in the United States. The main purpose of the Bell County Jail is to punish inmates for crimes of which they have been found guilty. However, in addition to punishment, prisons attempt to rehabilitate prisoners and prevent them from committing further crimes.
Although many prisoners re-offend and eventually return to prisons, many do not. Those that take advantage of the many programs offered by prisons are far less likely to return to a life of crime.
In addition to educational services, most county jails such as the Bell County Jail, offer inmates the opportunity to attend counseling to get to the root causes of their criminal behavior. There may be individualized counseling, as well as group counseling for issues such as drug addiction, anger management and spousal abuse. The goal of counseling is to help inmates realize their potential to enjoy a better quality of life, while avoiding drugs and alcohol, as well as criminal activity.
In addition to educational and counseling services, the Bell County Jail allows prisoners to take part in practicing the religion of their choosing. In fact the Bell County Jail allows prisoners to attend services and speak with religious leaders. 
Many of the programs offered through the Bell County Jail to inmates, allow inmates to explore the opportunity to lead a more positive life. 

Summit County Jail

The Summit County jail is located on 6300 North Silver Creek Drive in Park City, Utah. Being one of the state’s largest tourist attractions, primarily for snowboarding and skiing accommodations, the Summit County jail is viewed as one of the most important correctional facilities in the state. 
The primary mission of the Summit County jail is to provide public safety for the county’s residents and tourists. The secondary mission of the Utah county jail is to provide educational tools to its offenders to facilitate the integration back into the community. The facility is a minimal-security prison that incorporates numerous educational and treatment programs to not only aid an inmate’s assimilation back into the community, but to also teach the wrongdoers on how to avoid repeated stints in jail.
The Summit County jail is divided into seven distinct pods: the Bravo Pod, the Delta Pod, the Echo and Fox Pods, the Golf Pod, and the Alpha and Charlie Pods. The Summit County jail is one of the smaller correctional facilities in the state; it currently houses 40 inmates. 
Most of the incarcerations stem from minor felonies, and the average jail time is typically no more than one year. If an inmate is found guilty of an additional sentence and requires a longer stay he will be transferred to a more secure or larger correctional facility.
The visiting hours and rules for the Summit County jail are listed below:
·      All visiting hours are between 8:30-11:00 AM and 12:30-4:00 PM. Each pod has its own corresponding visiting day: Monday-Bravo Pod, Tuesday-Delta, Wednesday-Echo and Fox, Thursday-Golf, and Friday- Alpha and Charlie.
·      Visits may last between 15 and 30 minutes, and nobody under the age of 18 is allowed to visit unless they are the child of the prisoner.

Busted by the Geek Squad

Like so many Americans, 67-year-old David Allen Smith was aggravated when his family’s computer suddenly stopped working. In response to these nagging tech problems, Allen’s wife took the family device to the “Geek Squad” at their local “Best Buy” store. 
Police on location say the “Geek Squad” when reviewing Smith’s troubled machine, uncovered a vile stash of child pornography in the system’s hard drive. When the employees noticed the abundance of explicit and raunchy material on Allen’s computer they immediately notified patrolmen stationed near the store’s location. 
“Best Buy notified one of our patrolmen after seeing file names that indicated child pornography. This is the first time, since I’ve been here, in the cyber crimes divisions, that we’ve made an arrest in this way. Best Buy handled the situation perfectly”, said detective Otis Almond. 
According to various state and local authorities, Smith did not have a police record; officers are continuing their investigation, and when concluded, will charge Smith with a felony. Smith’s bail was set at $5,000, which he bonded out of Angelina County Jail earlier this week. 
Best Buy issued a company-wide statement citing that the Geek Squad does not routinely rummage through people’s personal devices, but for this request (Smith’s wife asked for a hard drive transfer) the technical support staff was required to view the computer’s files. The company stated that if they do discover suspicious or illegal materials in the natural order of satisfying requests, they deem it their responsibility to inform local authorities. 

Tarrant County Jail

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s department has over one thousand employees that prevent and investigate crimes that occur in that county. When inmates have been charged or found guilty of crimes by the county court, they are places in the Tarrant County Jail.
The Tarrant County Jail includes four separate facilities and men and women are kept in separate facilities, as well as juveniles that are accused of serious cites. There are over three thousand inmates housed in the Tarrant County Jail system.
Like most county jails, the focus at the Tarrant County Jail is on providing punishment for those that have been found guilty of crimes. In most jails, the rate of re-offense is quite high, In order to prevent prisoners from being returned to the prison system after release, there are many programs to help them improve their quality of life.
Inmates may be taught basic skills, such as cleaning, how to do laundry properly and cooking. In addition, inmates may take part in fixing certain items within the prison, such as the stove or washing machine, so that they can utilize those skills once they have left the prison.
Inmates at the Tarrant County Jail also have access to educational opportunities which may include basic reading and writing, as well as more advanced classes. These classes are geared toward allowing inmates to enjoy a batter quality of life once they are released; by helping those to acquire skills which will help them find gainful employment.

The Clay County jail in Moorhead, Minnesota is a facility dedicated to the protection of the citizens of Clay County. It is a facility that was built with the goal of protecting the citizens and providing the inmates with resources in order to help them re-channel their energy and refocus their lives, in order to be able to go back out into society and find work and stability. 
An underlying desire for these individuals is the hope that the resources and information they acquire in the jail can deter them from going back to a life of criminal activity.
The Clay county jail is staffed by a team of 26 full time correctional officers, 2 half time officers, 8 roster correctional officers, 3 administrators, and 3 clerical office associates, who work with processing and paperwork matters. These individuals are the ones who help run the Clay county jail and keep the facility functioning in an organized fashion.
The facility of the Clay County jail is broken up into the jail and the annex. The actual Clay County jail is a facility that can hold up to 66 adult detainees at one time; these individuals can be either male or female. However, in the annex, this can be used for 30 males maximum. 
Out of the various types of jails throughout the nation, the Clay County jail is one of the smaller establishments. This jail provides the basic amenities for living, like shelter, food, and hygiene facilities. It also boasts several different programs for individuals to give back to the community.
The work release program is one for those who are already productive members of society; it allows the individual to be released from jail in order to go to work and continue doing their job. 
Work detail is a program for those who are not considered a threat to society; it is a program that allows individuals to do community service like projects, in order to gain skills and give back to the community. And a Sentence to Service program is an option for those who are not allowed to do work release; it is an endeavor for the inmates to work under the supervision of state employees, in the department of natural resources.

Smith County Jail

The Sheriff of Smith County has been Sheriff for over thirty years and has vast experience in law enforcement. His department boasts an eighty percent rate of murders being solved in that county. The Sheriff’s officers are there to protect, prevent and investigate crimes and arrest those that are believed to have committed crimes. Those that are arrested for crimes and subsequently found guilty are housed at the Smith County Jail.
There are approximately three hundred and fifty staff members employed by the Sheriff’s department and many of those work at the Smith County Jail. In general, there are approximately one thousand prisoners housed on any given day, with over ten thousand going through the prison in one year.
Like many County prisons, the Smith County Jail has the main purpose of providing housing for those that have been subjected to a prison sentence at the county jail. The staff is expected to provide those prisoners with a safe environment. However, there is an additional focus of providing access to education, psychological counseling, vocation skills and other services which are meant to help rehabilitate the prisoners.
The Smith County Jail provides an environment in which prisoners are able to be safe while serving their sentence. In addition the Smith County Jail also allows prisoners to take advantage of many services which can enrich their life and provide them with better opportunities once they are released from prison.

The Ramsey county jail in Minnesota is a rather small facility that is equipped for the care and holding of detainees who are awaiting sentencing and those who are were sentenced to shorter durations of jail time.
This facility is one in which men and woman are housed and provided for until they their sentences are over, or until they are moved to another facility, if they have jail sentences that are a year or more.
Ramsey county jail provides basic meals as a form of nourishment for the individuals who are detained within the facility. The also provide the option of phone calls; phone cards can be purchased for use of calling out of the facility; however, there is also the option of calling collect to family members. 
During leisure time, individuals are allowed to play supervised games or watch television; this occurs within the designated time frames and can be for brief durations.
Within the Ramsey county jail there are different sections in which inmates are placed, including those who have a history in which there are disturbed issues or they require more supervision, there is a section in which these inmates can be detained, which is less crowded and provides the ability for observation and overall supervision.
