Professor Ends Class…and Life

Professor Ends Class…and Life

Philadelphia—Bewildered students, faculty members and even the man’s wife watched in utter horror last Wednesday as an adjunct teacher at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania committed suicide during his math class.
Rudolf Alexandrov, age 71, walked out of the classroom inside St. Joseph’s Hall, to the second-floor railing overlooking the college’s primary quad. Agitated and overcome with grief, Alexndrov dove head-first over the railing, falling roughly 30 feet to his death.
Alexandrov’s 56-year-old wife, a fellow adjunct professor at the Hill College witnessed the incident from a nearby classroom.
In response to the tragedy, the school issued the following statement:
“President Carol Vale and the entire Chestnut Hill College community wish to express our deepest sympathy to the family of adjunct professor Rudolf Alexandrov who died in a fall at the College on August 3. We offer our prayers and condolences to all Alexandrov family members and friends at this of great sorry.”
Investigators and college officials say the professor had a history of depression and had been expressing suicidal thoughts. The school is currently offering counseling to those who witnessed the incident. Classes resumed on Thursday.

During the Denver Bronco’s first preseason game of the year, promising kicker, Matt Prater, scored a team high eleven points.
This on-field performance; however, was nothing compared to the scoring Prater racked up the previous week. With a blood alcohol content over .14, Prater was involved in a hit-and-run crash in which he accompanied by a stripper.
The incident reportedly took place at 3 a.m. on Tuesday August 2nd.
Four witnesses told Colorado police officers they saw a purple Chevy Trailblazer slam- into a car in the parking lot of a Hyatt complex.
The driver, who quickly exited the vehicle, immediately sprinted towards to hotel lobby, where officers eventually found a 22-year-old female who dances at Shotgun Willie’s–a popular Denver Strip Club. The dancer, who told police officers she was riding in the Trailblazer with someone named “Matt P” was left at the Hyatt after the man crashed into the parked car.
In addition to abandoning the dancer, Prater also left the Trailblazer—a rental vehicle with a parking permit from the Denver Broncos training facility with Prater’s full name—behind.
When police discovered the vehicle, they immediately began searching for Prater. The search ended at a nearby La Quinta hotel where the cops found Prater wreaking of booze and sporting bloodshot eyes.
The police report quotes Prater as saying, “I really messed up. I’m going to lose my job.”
In response to the act and statement, the Denver Broncos released the following statement: “Our organization is disappointed with the poor judgment shown by Matt Prater on August 2nd. This matter, which was addressed with the team last week, continues to be thoroughly reviewed internally.”

Water Fight between Teens Turns Deadly

New York City—Alvin Diaz, a 14-year-old boy from the Bronx, recently turned himself in for murder after fatally stabbing his friend, 18-year-old Derek Cabejas, in the chest because of a water fight two days prior.

The two youths and Diaz’s brothers were enjoying a mock water-gun fight on Thursday of last week, when reportedly, the larky group of youths grew short-tempered and violent. The transformation to belligerence occurred when Cabejas slapped Alvin Diaz in the face.

Two days after the slap, Alvin Diaz visited Cabejas’ apartment at midnight with murderous intentions. Although information regarding the timeline of the attack is limited, it is known that Diaz murdered Cabejas, in cold blood, during this confrontation.

Cabejas was pronounced dead at the Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital just hours after his run-in with Diaz. According to various media outlets, Diaz asked his friends on Facebook, to come visit in prison before turning himself to police early this week.

Family members were absent from Diaz’s arraignment on Wednesday night, where he was ordered held without bail. The ruling not only stems from Diaz’s felonious actions, but also because the youth had a substantial juvenile arrest record and a pending robbery case against him.

The arrest makes Diaz the youngest murder suspect in the state of New York history. Diaz will be tried as an adult for the murder.

53 Dead in Casino Fire

53 Dead in Casino Fire

At least 53 people are dead after a fiery attack at a casino in an upscale area of Monterrey, Mexico. In addition to the causalities, at least eight others were injured in the Thursday afternoon stack, government and emergency officials said.
Witnesses have told government officials that a gang of six entered the Casino Royale and demanded to speak to the manager. When their request was denied, they set the building on fire.
According to the state attorney general, Adrian de la Garza, a potent solvent was used to start the blaze, possibly gasoline or kerosene.
Previous reports citing the use of grenades or other explosives have yet to be verified, said de la Garza. An investigation is currently under way.
Between 24 and 36 people were trapped in the casino by falling debris; video from the attack showed a burned-out building as respondents attempted to break the wall of the façade of the casino to release the smoke inside the building.
Mexican President, Felipe Calderon, responded to the attacks through his official Twitter account:
“With deep consternation, I express my solidarity with Nuevo Leon and the victims of this abhorrent act of terror and barbarism,” he said. “These reprehensible acts require us all to preserve in the fight against gangs of unscrupulous criminals.”

Utter Chaos at 30,000 feet

Utter Chaos at 30,000 feet

A ridiculous scene took place on JetBlue’s red-eye flight from Portland, Oregon to John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York, when a severely intoxicated male passenger allegedly urinated on a sleeping 11-year-old girl.
The young girl was travelling with her sister and father, and had been left alone for a few minutes while her family members used the bathroom.
Robert Vietze, aged 18, of South Warren, Vermont, stumbled from his seat five rows behind the young girl and, according to witnesses, emptied his bladder all over her.
“I was drunk, and did not realize I was pissing on her leg,” said the 6 foot 4, 195-pound young man. According to fellow passengers and law enforcement officers, Vietze consumed roughly 8 alcoholic beverages on the flight.
While coming back from the lavatories, the girl’s father caught Vietze mid-stream. “I woke up to this man yelling and literally looking like he was about to punch this kid in the face,” said a witness on board.
Flight attendants were forced to remove the father and Vietze and place them at opposite ends of the plane. The crew then attempted to clean-up the mess with a tub of liquid soap–taken from the plane’s bathrooms.
Whether in response to the horrible smell or simply a case of bad luck, the torture of the 5 and a half hour flight did not stop with the peeing incident—roughly an hour later, another passenger complained of severe stomach pains, then proceeded to vomit all over the cabin.
When the plane finally landed, six Port Authority police officers met the plane at the gate. Two cops escorted the ill passenger off, and four took Vietze into custody. Vietze was issued a federal summons for indecent exposure and was eventually released.

A Real Life Horror Story

A Real Life Horror Story

In his 34 years with the New York City Fire Department, Captain James Melvin has experienced his fair share of malfunctioning elevators. But Melvin never witnessed the horror of what happened on Sunday morning on Staten Island.
Melvin described the situation with a hint of fear and amazement in his voice: Two construction workers were stuck in an elevator that was filling with water.
The construction workers were on a project in the former State Island Hotel in Graniteville, when at approximately 9 a.m., the two men became trapped when the elevator doors did not open.
The two men, identified as Windell Admaker and Edward Tyler, began to frantically push buttons for various floors in the hope that the doors for one of the floors would open. “They figured they’d try the basement level,” said Captain Melvin.
On most days that strategy would have been fine; however, the massive rain storm that hit the city led to severe flooding in the basement. And when the elevator neared the basement, it hit water and started to slowly sink, until finally hitting the bottom of the shaft.
By the time the New York Fire Department arrived on the scene, the water had risen to the necks of the two trapped men.
The two men tried whatever they could to escape, but their efforts and shouts proved futile—they were the only ones in the building.
Thankfully, both men were carrying cellphones and able to contact the Fire Department.
Roughly an hour after their initial call, firefighters found the trapped men and were able to rescue them using a narrow ladder that was inserted through the elevator’s emergency hatch. .

Sick and Twisted: Father Decapitates Special-Needs Son

Sick and Twisted: Father Decapitates Special-Needs Son

A 7-year-old boy suffering from cerebral palsy and other disabilities—including not being able to speak—was decapitated by his biological father over the weekend.
The child’s head was found on Sunday afternoon, lying on the side of the street, said Louisiana detective Ricky Ross.
“We received the call at approximately 12 noon on Sunday from a volunteer firefighter who was driving by and found a head by itself on the side of the city street,” said Ross.
When police initially arrived, they found 30-year-old Jeremiah lee Wright standing across the street on his porch—Wright shouted to the officers that the head was a CPR dummy and it was simply a joke.
After additional police officers arrived, Wright was taken into custody for questioning, during which he confessed to chopping-off his son’s head.
After the confession, officers searched Wright’s home, where they found a white garbage bag near the child’s body. While police were investigating the home, the child’s mother, who had been running errands, arrived to find her house covered in yellow crime-scene tape. The mother, after being shown a photograph of her boy’s decapitated head, identified her son, 7-year-old Jori Liritte.
The chief of police said Wright confessed to the gruesome act because taking care of his son’s special needs was too daunting of a task. Additionally, the murderer stated that, because of his son’s disabilities, the boy did not feel human to him. During the interview, the man also stated numerous relationship issues with the child’s mother—Ross said he had purposefully left his son’s head in the middle of the street for his wife to see.
The gruesome nature of the crime, which was executed with a hacksaw, has left the small Louisiana community (approximately 65 miles southwest of New Orleans) in a complete state of shock. Ross is being charged with first-degree murder and it is likely that he will be sentenced to life in prison.

Wild and Crazy Summer: College Student Joins Libyan Rebels

Christopher Jeon, a 21-year-old Math major at UCLA, calmly declared, “It is the end of my summer vacation, so I thought it would be cool to join the rebels.”

In a daring or foolish—depending how you look at it—decision, Jeon boarded a one-way flight from Los Angeles to Cairo. The fearless student then traveled by train to Alexendria and after a series of circuitous and sketchy bus trips, wound up in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi.

Once in Benghazi, Jeon hitched a ride with his newly acquainted rebel friends heading west towards the war-stricken Libyan capital of Tripoli. Following a 250-mile trek across the desolate lands of North Africa, Jeon found himself in the town of An Nawfaliyah.

The toast of his fellow rebels, Jeon, the newly anointed freedom fighter, is setout to partake in the most tumultuous effort in the world today. Although Jeon has yet to see action, the college boy is eager to stake his claim. When reporters and various media outlets first met Jeon, they found the young man clutching an AK-47, while excitedly screaming, “How do I fire this thing!” Locating the trigger and switching the assault rifle off the safety, Jeon fired it in the air in multiple bursts. “I want to fight in Sirte!” he shouted.

Even if the rebels cannot understand his battle cries (Jeon does not speak Arabic), they feel his enthusiasm and passion towards the effort. Such a sentiment; however, is probably not duplicated by Jeon’s parents, who remain uninformed to their son’s rebellious fever. “If I get captured or something, I don’t want to waste another $800 on the plane ticket. Whatever you do, don’t tell my parents. They don’t know I’m here,” he pleaded.
